Traffic Control
< prev  |  next >
The suggested schedule for construction includes starting with the railroad crossing, converting it to one-lane in each direction. This will be followed by word done on the north end of the project (likely in 2015) - from the Main Street intersection to the Railroad Crossing. During this construction, traffic will be moved to the east side of North Union for Stage 3 as depicted below. Once the west portion of North Union is constructed, traffic will shift to (approximately) the final location while the east side is constructed.

The third phase of construction (likely in 2016) will focus on the south end of the project - from the Railroad Crossing to the E. State Street / W. State Street intersection. During this construction, traffic will be moved to the middle of the road while work takes place on either side. When the parking and streetwork are complete, traffic will be diverted to the bike lane and edge of the parking spaces so the median can be completed. See the plan image below.

Roundabout construction will require patience on behalf of drivers working their way through the construction zone. As traffic signals are removed and new entries into traffic are created, drives will need to be aware of yield signs, four-way stops and other temporary directional signage.
